The Mission Support Center at ALTEC follows and provides engineering support specialized for Shuttle missions that foresee the presence of astronauts aboard the Pressurized Logistics Modules (MPLM) or at the very least Italian participation as is the case on the ESPERIA mission.

The support team is made up of ALTEC and Thales Alenia Space – Italy technicians that operate out of two modern mission support centers located in the CMFS.

The Mission Support rooms are integrated into the international network at NASA and ESA Centers, enabling the operational management of the Space Station.

During a mission our main objective is to offer support and assistance to ground personnel at control centers mainly during critical mission phases. We also perform engineering analysis in real-time and supply detailed information to the astronauts.

The participation in the management of missions towards ISS offers ALTEC the unique opportunity to develop activities related to the promotion of space activities and the diffusion of knowledge throughout the area, on behalf of the Space Agencies.
